Year 5

SEPTEMBER   2009

Goodbye Year 4.........Hello Year 5.

We all can look forward to a busy and exciting year. The Tudors are the first topic to be covered and then I believe it's water!

During the Autumn term trips are planned first The Golden Hinde and Globe Theatre and then in late October The Tower of London.

Also Year 5 will be busy in school with a Surrey fire and rescue talk and cycling training.
We all wish Year 5 a happy year.

Your classrooms are looking good.

Keep them tidy..........you never know when I'll be back with my camera!

  FEBRUARY 2009

5S were joined by some very talented musicians from the Yehudi Menuhin School, for our second workshop.

Along with Ed, the composer, we created several pieces of music, which were then performed to the rest of the school.

We also learnt a song from Tansania and several children read poems relating to the theme of the seasons.

Thanks to our new friends at the Yehudi Menuhin School for such a fabulous and fun opportunity.

  MARCH 2009

The whole of Year 5 spent the day at Therfield learning code breaking skills. A visitor from Bletchley Park spoke to us about the different types of codes, followed by literacy, maths and history workshops linked to this. In the afternoon we had to apply our new skills in a range of activities, including spy games on the computer. A great day was had by all.

THANKS th the staff at Therfield for a fun day.
